Experience a day in the 19th century at the historic estate of the Washburn family. Attend school, style, learn about the Washburn family’s busy cradle, cook and sew in the farmer’s cottage, attend church, work in the barn, examine treasures from our archives in the library and take a hike on our 3 miles of trails. You’re sure to discover something interesting & make connections to our lived past.
School-age Learning Experiences
Norlands provides unique hands-on history lessons for your school group. Our grade appropriate experiences focus on life in 19th century rural Maine, Maine in the Civil War and historical investigations using the Washburn-Norlands archive. From elementary school to the college level, meaningful learning happens at Norlands.
