Living History Experiences for All Ages
Experience a day in the 19th century at the historic estate of the Washburn family. Attend school, style, learn about the Washburn family’s busy cradle, cook and sew in the farmer’s cottage, attend church, work in the barn, examine treasures from our archives in the library and take a hike on our 3 miles of trails. You’re sure to discover something interesting & make connections to our lived past.
Norlands provides unique hands-on history lessons for your school group. Our grade appropriate experiences focus on life in 19th century rural Maine, Maine in the Civil War and historical investigations using the Washburn-Norlands archive. From elementary school to the college level, meaningful learning happens at Norlands.

From Maple Sunday to Summer Music on the Lawn to Christmas at Norlands, our special events provide fun and fellowship, where the 19th century meets the present. With events year round, there is always something to keep you coming back to Norlands.
Weddings and Special Events
Celebrate your wedding in our 1828 meeting house or library, host a tea on our lawn, spend a day at Norlands for a team building retreat or host an intimate special dinner in our dining room with a farm to table menu from Livermore’s local farmers. We will work with you to create an experience you will never forget.
